Keep Up With The Fallas – 2020 Schedule

The Fallas are officially here!
The Cridà marked the start of the festival yesterday night at the Torres de Serranos. Here we provide you with a break down of the schedule over the coming weeks, so you can have a better idea of what’s going on and some of the events you’d like to attend.
Here we do our best to explain some of the traditional events, although it’s not always easy to translate some of the typical Valencian names! So the best way to find out more about these activities, is to go and find out for yourself!

March 1st

07:30 h. – Despertà (People walking through the street setting off fire crackers and creating a lot of noise, to wake up or «despertar» the city).

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento.

20:00 h. – “La Cridà” at the Torres de Serranos. A great light and pyrotechnic show to celebrate the welcoming of the Fallas. 

 

March 2nd to 5th

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la Plaza del Ayuntamiento. (Every day from March 1st to March 19th in the Town Hall square, there is a fireworks display combined with a gunpowder explosion to create the sound effect of the famous Mascletà.)

It is a truly unique event of the Fallas and you really have to experience the level of noise for yourself! 

  

March 6th

12:00 h. – “L’Antigor” (A parade of classic cars through the city).

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento.

20:00 h. – Peace & Rock & Fallas Valencia concert at Jardines de Viveros.

 

March 7th

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento.

17:30 h. – The Ninot parade is a march showcasing some of the characters you will see on the artistic monuments this year. If you want to see it, here is the general route: Salida de la Glorieta, calle de la Paz, Sant Vicente, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Marqués de Sotelo and finishing at La calle de Játiva.

00:00 h. – Colored “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento

March 8th

10:00 h. – “Cant de l’Estoreta” contest.

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento.

 

March 9th to 12th

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento

  

March 13th

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento

00:00 h. – Colored “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento

 

March 14th

14.00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento

17:00 h. – End of the “ninot infantil” exposition

March 15th

09:00 h. – “Plantà” of all “fallas infantiles”. This is the event where the children’s artistic monuments are all put up and ready to be viewed! 

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento.

17:00 h. – End of the ninot exposition.

17:30 h. – Final verdict fot “ninot indultat” of 2020.

00:00 h. – “L’albà”of all fallas in the city with a big pyrotechnic show at la plaza de Ayuntamiento

 

March 16th

08:00 h. – “Plantà” of all the fallas in Valencia. This means that by this day, all of the artistic monuments must be out and on display for the public to view, and to vote for their favorite one to be saved from the fires!

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento.

16:30 h. – Awards ceremony for different sections of “falla infantil” (These are the awards presented for the best children’s monuments).

00:00 h. – Fireworks at “el paseo de la Alameda”. 

 

March 17th

09:00 h. – Awards for different fallas sections in front of the city hall.

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” en la plaza del Ayuntamiento

15:30-23:50h. – The flower offering to the Virgin in the Plaza de la virgen. 

01:00 h. – Fireworks show at “el paseo de la Alameda”.

 

March 18th

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento.

15:30-23:50h. -The flower offering to the Virgin in the Plaza de la virgen. 

01:30 h. – “Nit del foc”, fireworks at el paseo de la Alameda. This is a popular fireworks show that is the last big fireworks display and a definite must-see!

 

March 19th

14:00 h. – “Mascletà” at la plaza del Ayuntamiento.

19:00 h. – “Marching of the fire” along Calle colón. Starting in Ruzafa and finishing in la Porta de la mar, this parade includes many different characters and performers, and fire!

22:00 h. – “Cremà” of all the “fallas infantiles”. The final burning of the children’s monuments!

23:00 h. – “Cremà” of the award winning “falla infantil” at “la plaza de Ayuntamiento”.

00:00 h. – “Cremà” of all fallas in Valencia. The final burning of the big monuments!

01:00 h. – “Cremà” of the biggest falla at La plaza de Ayuntamiento
